It has recently come to the attention of AAADAC from the Arkansas Mental Health Professionals for Ethical Policy, that there is pending legislation this week (tomorrow, Feb 9th) in the Arkansas House of Representatives that will have an impact on some of our members who are LAC/LPC; LAADC/LADC, LCSW's and Psychologists.

The Legislation is Arkansas House Bill (HB) 1359.  At present, this will eliminate the following Licensure Boards:
Arkansas Board of Examiners in Alcohol and Drug Counseling
Arkansas Board of Examiners in Counseling
Arkansas Psychology Board
Arkansas Licensing Board for Social Workers

If this legislation passes, these boards will be replaced with a new consolidated Arkansas State Board of Mental Health Professionals.

For our ADCs/AADC's/CIT's/Peers, this bill does not effect the IC&RC Arkansas Substance Abuse Certification Board (ASACB).

We encourage our members to contact your respective State Representative and/or Senator to provide comment on this proposed legislation and your position on it.

AAADAC wishes to thank the Arkansas Mental Health Professionals for Ethical Policy for bringing this to our attention to alert our members on key policy and legislative issues here in Arkansas.
